the first mcdonalds opened in the united states in 1951 - the starting point of my data. i have created an excel spreadsheet that lists all of the conflicts that have occurred globally since 1951 by country in order to study how mcdonalds merges with this idea of war and Thomas Friedman's Golden Arches Theory of Conflict Prevention. i see two tasks at hand here: mapping two supercontinents (McContinent versus non-McContinent) on a time-based datum (5 years = one unit) to illustrate the global influence that McDonalds has attained since 1951, and then mapping the conflicts that have occurred within these countries through a topographical change that also occurs within the same time-based datum. i am hoping that once these two things are mapped and morphed, i will have opportunity to incorporate supply within the mapping using the same time-based datum. by grounding all of these elements into the same context (time-based datum), the extent to which mcdonald's has affected the global marketplace through a variety of means other than just pure location-based tracing.
