I think its great to see how the topic of McDonalds has carried you to agricultural production- definitely not what we normally think of while eating a Big Mac. Looks great just a matter of getting it animated!
McWar. Maybe you could map McDonald's and beef trade in terms of movement - like lines (or a line-like concept). At the same time, if you are interested in comparing it with war, maybe you could map war in terms of connecting lines of a network as well - think of it all in terms of connections.
Just a thought, I know you needed some ideas. :) Your idea is definitely extremely interesting, and is really representative of capitalism and American western ideals.
i think that it could be interestin to consider reorganizing the earth into a mcdonalds supercontinent and a non-mcdonalds supercontinent. you could animate the evolution of this...countries could move from the non-continent to the McContinent and you could also show conflicts (internal and external) to prove/disprove the correlation of war and mcdonalds.
mapping a franchise like McDonalds is a really interesting concept especially in comparison to more 'traditional' mappings. it will be difficult to avoid 'tracing'...maybe you could take your "McWar" information and compare McDonalds countries to non-McDonalds countries and speculate as to how a country like the U.S. would develop/evolve/devolve without the influence of McDonalds.

Studying the global influence of McDonalds is really interesting. I found these maps on meat imports and exports. Maybe they could be helpful.
